Solution of mining problems at the Institute of Geonics ASCR – history and present state
Konečný, Petr
The development of Institute of Geonics AS CR (formerly Mining Institute) is described. The actual research is focused on problems induced by human activity in Earth crust, but mining problems remain. Some examples of mining research are presented.
2D-analýza geotextilních trubic
Malík, Josef
The analysis describing both stress and geometry of geosynthetic tubes is presented. The parametric study shows that the most critical point responsible for stability is pumping pressure. A small pressure increase can result in a big increase or tension force in geosynthetic. On the other hand it has small infuence on volume capacity.
Natural extremes and disasters in the Ostrava region and their environmental impacts on the example of historical floods
Munzar, Jan ; Ondráček, Stanislav
With respect to its geographical location in the territory with a confluence of four big water courses the region of Ostrava is naturally predisposed to a more frequent occurrence of floods. There is a whole range of hydrological extremes known in the history of this region. Most severe flood disasters in the last 200 years were for example events recorded in 1813, 1831, 1880, 1902, 1903 and 1997. The mentioned high waters always brought destruction to the region and towns, from which they were long recovering.
Using of a conical gauge probe to long term monitoring of the stress changes
Staš, Lubomír ; Souček, Kamil ; Knejzlík, Jaromír ; Palla, L.
In frame of development of new device to full stress tensor measurement a simplified variant of gauge probe was completed. This variant, which is connected to datalogger by cable, is very good for long term monitoring of the stress changes. Functionality of that was verified not only on laboratory also in-situ in carboniferous rock mass during detection of the stress changes in relation to long wall progress.
25 let vědeckých výpočtů na Ústavu geoniky
Jakl, Ondřej
The paper summarizes the role of computers in the twenty five years since the establishment of the Institute of Geonics Cz.Acad.Sci. It recalls the importance of computer systems and computer science in general, especially for mathematical modelling, one of the most important research fields of the institute. In the course of time computers, networks and Internet are unavoidable for each of the fields of study of the institute. The contribution surveys the main stages in this development, from the point of view of demanding computations in particular, and mentions various computers and hardware characteristic for each stage.
Fluorescenční mikroskopie a analýza obrazu mikroporušení hornin
Ščučka, Jiří ; Kožušníková, Alena ; Obara, B.
The paper presents analytical methods used at the Institute of Geonics ASCR for quantitative analyses of micro-fracturing arising in rocks under various loading conditions in laboratory. Primarily optical fluorescence microscopy and image analysis of sections saturated by fluorescence dye are used to these purposes. The full-automatic image analysis method for determination of intensity and distribution of micro-cracks in rock specimens is presented in the paper as well as the formerly used manually procedure.
Deposits of the Carpathian System in the overbunden of Productive Carboniferous in the mine shafts of the Podbeskydí part of the Upper Silesian Coal Basin
Vašíček, Zdeněk
Coalbearing deposits in the southern part of Upper Silesian Basin (Podbeskydí) are opened by 12 new shafts. The thick overbunden of productive Carboniferous represent especially deposits of the outer Carpathian Nappes.
Laboratory measurement of mechanical rock properties in Institute of Geonics
Konečný, Pavel
There is the information about laboratory measurement methods of physical properties of rocks used in Institute of Geonics. The uniaxial and triaxial measurement of stress – strain properties are described in this paper. The laboratory equipment is presented, too.
Výzkum pulsujících vodních paprsků
Foldyna, Josef
he research on pulsating water jets at the Institute of Geonics ASCR in Ostrava was focused recently on the analytical and numerical modeling of the propagation of pressure pulsations in the high-pressure system with the integrated acoustic generator of pulsations, and the study of effects of the jet on various materials. Results obtained in above mentioned areas are summarized in the paper.
The knowledge from the long-term investigation of natural and induced seismicity in the Moravo-Silesian region
Holub, Karel ; Kaláb, Zdeněk ; Knejzlík, Jaromír ; Rušajová, Jana ; Dombková, Anna
Present paper describes some results of basic research in geophysics and geophysical instrumentation in the last 25 years of the Institute of Geonics AS CR, v.v.i. existence. This research was aimed at development of instrumentation for local and regional networks and theit operation. During the operation of permanent station OKC and temporary seismic stations some microearthquakes, mining induced seismic events and quarry blasts were recorded and investigated.
